ISO: Sheep's Milk
Hello all --
I'm contemplating making ricotta this weekend and wanted to use sheep's milk. any ideas where i can find some? a previous post mentioned St Lawrence Market. would love suggestions for other ttc-accessible places.
Best Baa farm MAY have sheep's milk at their stand in the north market on Saturday's, but this time of year it's pretty likely that they are using every drop they can get their hands on to make their own cheese.
If you go close to the opening hours you can usually get fresh sheep's milk ricotta from Monforte Dairy's stands at various farmer's markets around the city. I know it's not making your own but it may be the closest you'll get.
I am pretty sure that I've seen it for sale at Fresh From The Farm before. They do rotate their stock availability frequently though, so it may be worth your while to call ahead first.

There is no information in the above posts about fresh sheep's milk.
The ewes lactate in the spring of each year, and the excess milk has to be frozen.
Fresh sheep's milk will be available next year.
