Where to Have Drinks and a Nosh in the Late Afternoon in WeHo?

I'm meeting a friend tomorrow afternoon for drinks and a nosh and am looking for a good place. He's staying at Le Parc in West Hollywood, so the closer the better. Good food, good atmosphere, and quiet enough for us to be able to converse comfortably are important factors. I don't drink and I don't think he will be either, so alcohol is not necessary. Tea or coffee would work. I can only think of Le Pain Quotidien and Urth, neither of which is that exciting to me. Can you help me come up with something better? TIA!

  1. What about the Belmont on La Cienega? Can't get too much closer to Le Parc than that.

Have read some very nice reviews of The London. The tea service sounds very nice.

    2. I'd recommend the Little Next Door...

That's funny - I just thought of that myself! It's not as close to his hotel as I would like, but I think it's a good fit otherwise...

      2. The Village Idiot, a gastropub on Melrose.

Or, just down the street, Cube on La Brea just south of Melrose.

        2. Thanks for all the suggestions! I gave my husband a choice between the Little Next Door and the Village Idiot (which we had not been to before), and he chose the Village Idiot. It was not as close to our friend's hotel as I was hoping but traffic was fine and parking was easy. The decor and ambiance were really perfect, exactly what I had in mind. We sat in one of the tall booths near the windows on Melrose, and it was a great place to watch the people go by and catch up with a friend. We ordered the hearts of romaine, pork belly, shrimp fritters, bacon-wrapped dates, and fries (I guess that's a bit more than a nosh?). In my opinion, it was a fine dining menu but prepared as bar food (which is to say, not with very good quality ingredients or very skillfully) - so I wouldn't say I was blown away. But my husband and our friend were happy, and it definitely was a step up from standard bar fare. All in all, it was an excellent venue for our purpose. Thanks again for the recs!
