Semi-casual restaurant suggestions in Lower Westchester?
My boyfriend and I are celebrating two years together and we'd like to dine out somewhere that really isn't fancy, but not completely family oriented either. I'm leaning more towards Italian or just Contemporary American places. But really any suggestions are fine. We're coming from Pelham Bay in the Bronx, so anything 30-45 min away would be good. I guess no further up than say Mt.Kisco?

I think the food, vibe and wine at Nessa would be right up your alley. You can come right up I-95 and they have valet. I love, love the food at Nessa and I can't say enough wonderful things about Marc, Adam, Frank and the entire staff. They make us feel like the most special people in the room every time we are there. The chicken under a brick is amazing! They have so many great smaller plates to share, too.

I actually do like the pizza and pastas at Tarry Lodge quite a bit - not so crazy about the mains. Other Italian/Contemporary American places I enjoy sans kids that are not out of control expensive : The Cookery in Dobbs Ferry, Tarry Tavern and Sweetgrass Grill (although the latter gets some negative press here) in Tarrytown, Red Hat in Irvington. I have not tried the new places in Armonk yet - Restaurant North and Moderne Barn, but hope to soon. Hope you have a great celebration.

re: cubanat
Spadaro's is very good... they treat you as if you were part of their family BUT prices are
high...
My wife and I think that Scaramella's in Dobbs Ferry has the very BEST Italian food in Westchester with really good service.
X2O in Yonkers is very pretty and food usually is quite good. Prices tend to be on high side.
Can not agree with suggestion of Tarry Lodge... We think that their food is mediocre, service
is really poor, and management with lots and lots of "attitude". In addition Salt is King there.
Go anywhere else but to Tarry Lodge!-----
