If You Were Single...
And wanted a fun place to meet with your friends for dinner and drinks in the Twin Cities area, where would you go?
I am an organizer of the Twin Cities Social Club (http://www.meetup.com/TC-Social-Club/) and I need ideas. I have quite a few members and our group is expanding every day. However, I'm finding it really difficult to get folks out to our events. I figured if I can convince the women to join me, the men will follow. Now, I asked the women what they'd like to do. That, combined with my observations, has me leaning towards dinner. Dinner would be followed by an activity... live music, dancing but not in a "crazy" place (lol), or ??? Since y'all have helped me before, i figured I'd ask you now. What are your recommendations? I need all the help and ideas I can get so spread the word and talk amongst your friends. I want this to be a "CAN'T MISS EVENT!!!"
This event will take place on Saturday, September 18th. A time has yet to be set. I'm open to starting with a Happy Hour somewhere, too:-) The restaurant must be willing to take reservations. A private room at no charge would be IDEAL. A place that allows for conversation and mingling is a MUST. Again, I would like to follow this dinner with an activity that allows for us to continue our socializing but with an activity, too.
Thank you all in advance for your help! You are the BEST!!!
What about Bradstreet, followed by the Dakota Jazz club? That is something I would do if I were single.
Alternately, and I understand I am somewhat unique in my affection for the place, but what about Conga Latin Bistro? Nightly salsa dancing and solid drinks. You can eat there beforehand to take care of the cover, or maybe grab some pizza at Punch beforehand and sample some of the tasty bar food.

Solera has a back room that sits at least 20, perhaps 30. It's reservable. Mingling in there, plus occasional excursions to either the rooftop bar or the front bar, could be lots of fun. Plus, their tapas style menu that encourages sharing is a nice way to get folks to mingle more.
I would have said Barrio in MPLS, but I've never been there on a Saturday, and I'm not sure how hopping that part of MPLS is on Saturday afternoons. It also tends to be loud in there, but it's definitely a very fun singles-type atmosphere.

The new Uptown Cafeteria is great. Yes, very good singles scene. Excellent view from the deck, very good drinks, decent food (for a Parasol restaurant and given their prime raison d'etre is the rooftop). But the rooftop is incredibly tough to get seating at. The inside is pretty loud, and I'm not sure you can get a big table there. With Chino, it's a great singles scene, but also loud. Perhaps at the downstairs area at Chino you can get a bigger table, and there could be more conversating and mingling.
