in search of a birthday gift for a chocoholic

Looking for a place that has lovely chocolates and where gift certificates may be purchased. Prefer the downtown core. I thought of getting my friend a chocolate course but she is more interested in devouring chocolate than she is in the making of them.

Suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks everyone. As this is a birthday gift that is being given by several people, the Committee approves and I will be picking up some items from the Distillery today.

SOMA! Very delicious! I like the long chocolate bars they have in a tube on the counter. I forget the name but the one with dark chocolate and some Iranian raisins! Mmmmmmmmm!
Don't forget to try the fruit jellies and ice cream! All mmmmmmmmmmm great!

Another vote for Soma. You could prepare a lovely package with their chocolates (pecan butter crunch is my favourite), bars, almond toffee, cookies, hot chocolate mix... You could even prepare a mini sampling by the country of origin of the cacao beans (off the top of my head, I know they have peruvian and costa rican, and I'm sure they have others). I really don't think you can go wrong.

I agree with the 2 people above me. I received a birthday package from Soma this January and it was amazingf. They even sent the smaller version of their flourless cake.

I agree with Snarf, Soma is great. If your friend likes hot chocolate, I would also recommend their Mayan hot chocolate mix - a nice touch of spice with dark chocolate.

Get a selection of truffles and other chocolate from Soma at the distillery. The chocolate is made on site, is a great destination, and has some of the more interesting flavour combinations going. They appear to do apprenticeships and courses, as well.
