Goood mail order source for pork belly.

I live in South Florida and have been buying frozen pork belly at a local oriental market. I am not thrilled with the quality, i.e., to much fat in relation to the meat. Does anyone have a source for good quality heritge pork belly. The sources I have found want to sell 9 or 10 pounds and that is really too much.

  1. I haven't had the pork belly, but I've ordered delicious bone-in Kurobuta hams from Snake River Farm. Here's a link for the pork belly:

    1. Isnt a very high fat to meat ratio inherent with belly pork (and to my mind, the whole point of the cut)?

(I'm assuming you are referring to the cut as linked by emily and you don't mean pig's stomach - an altogether different issue)

Yes, there is a high fat to meat ratio. Unfortunately, when I buy it frozen at a local oriental market it is almost all fat. There is very little lean. When it is served in a restaurant, there is a nice mix of fat and lean.

Have you tried a ordering through a local butcher, or even Publix? They will do some special requests.
