New England Style Hot Dog Buns

Hello,

I am looking for a wholesaler to purchase a good new england style bun from. Would prefer San Diego but if someone knows a great place I'd be willing to look into it.

Thanks!

I just found that "King's Hawaiian" has top split buns in a 6 pack as a new product! I have found them at my local Target in Costa Mesa, CA. They are not exactly the same taste as the ones from New England but they are good enough and in some ways even better!
    Contact "King's Hawaiian" at www.kingshawaiian.com

Keil's in San Diego carries the King's Hawaiian top split hot dog buns. Tried them over Memorial Day weekend. Really liked them. I don't know how close to a New England-style bun they are, but they're a good option if you just want a top split bun.

The King's Hawaiian top split hot dog buns are similar to the egg top split hot dog buns from back in New England. The slight sweetness of these buns works well with lobster salad, seafood salad, chicken salad, brats & italian sausage. They are best served by buttering and grilling both sides of the bun on a flat top grill. It adds a whole other dimension in flavor to anything you decide to put in it!
Thanks to King's Hawaiian for bringing the hot dog to paradise!

Lots of mail order. Try this:

Also -- someone up in LA found a place in Monrovia that bakes 'em fresh. Road trip?

        Everyone,

I found a delicious bun at a great price. It is shipped from Michigan but the price is outstanding. Please let me know if you are interested. It is actually cheaper for us to get this bun shipped to us from Michigan rather than buying anything local, plus it is better!

Because I have personal phone numbers I would want to share but not on a public forum.

Solunto Baking Co. on India street might be able to do something for you in quantity. There is also Sadie Rose Baking Co, but they do more crusty, artisan stuff, which in my opinion shouldn't exclude the noble hot dog bun. You can also contact the Regal Beagle Ale House on India- they use artisan hot dog buns for their sausages and would probably know a local supplier who could work with you.

        Cheers.

Edit: In fact, Sadie Rose does do a hot dog bun- you just have to order two days in advance.

So I tried both of these bakeries and neither of them make or know of anyone who makes a New England Style Bun. Anyone know of any other bakeries that might?

Studio Diner uses the East Coast top split bun. You might want to call them for a source or if they sell them.

I talked to the owner and they order theirs from the East Coast too!

Anyone want to start a bakery here in San Diego??????
