SUNRISE BAGELS in Kingston

I've seen a few posts bemoaning the general lack of tasty bagels, and I can't believe I haven't seen Sunrise Bagels mentioned here!

Run by a couple of grumpy Greeks, they offer egg sandwiches, deli stuff, soups, and a few other things--but the bagels. Oh my dear Lord, the bagels. No fancy flavors, just your poppy, your salt, your sesame. The standards. My favorite is a schmear of lox spread on sesame (I love those everything bagels, but they repeat on me all day *urp*)

It's on Ulster Avenue, across from the Jeep dealership.

Great bagels, and they discount a dozen by a dollar during their last open hour on weekdays. Better that H&H or Essabagel!!!

But, oh yeah, grumpy is the perfect word!!!

they're not that grumpy, but not friendly either. perhaps neutral is a better descriptor, but they are certainly not talkative.

and in addition to their high quality, the bagels are also quite large!

Ive driven past this place a million times and never bothered to stop. I normally head over to deising's for a bagel but I'll be sure to give Sunrise a chance now.

Seriously the best bagels ever. I've been having them for as long as I can remember. They are always warm and fresh but yes, I must agree, they aren't very friendly. I would be though if I had all of Kingston loving my bagels lol

Grumpy? Everyone must be insane. I've been going to Sunrise since I was a kid and that couple is the nicest I've ever met. They haven't forgotten my name in the last 15 years and the man is just the sweetest old man you'd ever meet. :)

They are, however, serious about their bagels...You have to remember! By the time you're arriving there at 10am, they've already been working since 3am! I'm a truck driver and a world traveller...After all the bagels I've eaten in every backwater place known to man, these are still the BEST bagels in the world AND the best-priced.
