Sexy, dress-up place for 150 (maybe 200) € for two, with wine
Hi, I'm writing as a long-time French resident familiar with the Chowhound board and more or less up-to-date on things. That said, I'm looking for a restaurant (or many, should the beast exist) which is, as the title suggests, a chic, swanky joint (in other words not a homey bistro out in the arrondissements, however good it is) that is great food-wise but won't completely bust the bank. You know, sort of a half-michelin-star deal on the way up, ideally, with a cool modern vibe and design. Do I ask too much? In any case, many thanks right off the bat for any and all responses.

Sometime ago I asked diplomats for a Paris recommendation and they said Chamarre (Le)
13 Boulevard de la Tour-Maubourg
Paris, France 75007
phone: +33 1 4705 5018
fax: +33 1 4705 9121
We dressed up, asked for the "carte blanc" and had a very good evening for about your budget.
As recommended, the place was full of diplomats.›2 Replies-
re: hychka
Chamarré closed the Latour Maubourg location a couple of years back, but has resurfaced in the old Beauvilliers location in Montmartre (where you will not be immersed in diplomats) to mainly good reviews.
A place that may fit your requirements is the less than year old "Frederic Simonin" which is only 6 or 7 hundred meters above The Arc de Triomphe and probably less than a year away from winning a Michelin star.
