Weekend lunch in the city.....

ilovesummer Aug 28, 2010 04:53 AM

any thoughts on a great place for casual, small plates type lunch on the weekend...???
Amada, Trading Company, Kanella all seem to have a "brunch" menu on the weekend which appears much different than their typical "lunch" menu.....Any thoughts?

Day By Day, at 21st and Sansom, seems to be open on Saturdays. It is very casual, but I find it a lovely place for lunch. The other day my sister and I enjoyed shrimp salad with avocado in a Jersey tomato shell, and it was delicious.

Had good lunches recently at Devon and at Chops, but I didn't check if they are open for Saturday lunch.

Devon is open for Saturday lunch, Chops is not.

Amada has a non-brunch menu on Saturdays. I highly recommend it. Devon is a chain and the last time I was there did not serve small plates as the OP was looking for. You may want to consider Chifa or better yet Tria too.

          thanks...tria is a great suggestion...
unfortunately the lunch menu at amada lacks our favorite flatbreads....so will wait to hit there again for dinner!
