HOOF CAFE ON VACATION
The weekend is here and just in case you were thinking of heading over to get your fix, don't bother, they're on a probably much needed, 2 week summer vacation.
We went today and were sooooo disappointed. Man I was jonesing those beignets.
They are back in business on September 2nd.
Consider this a public service announcement.
Oh no!! Never pleasant to find out when you arrive. The Black Hoof is also on vacation until September 7.
Come to think of it, maybe we should start a "summer vacations" thread... We showed up to find Pomegranate closed last night (until Sept. 7), and Ezra's Pound on Dupont is also about to go on vacation - can't remember exact dates.
238 Dupont St, Toronto, ON M5R1V7, CA
The Black Hoof
928 Dundas St W, Toronto, ON M6J, CA
Adding to it, we had arranged for our foodie friends (AKA partners in crime) to join us. After non stop raving about those damn beignets, one of them (my lips are sealed) even played hookey to join in. All four of us were starving and practically foaming at the mouth, ready to dive in and devour only to see the dreaded little white piece of paper stuck on the door......CLOSED!!!
Two words - major disappointed.
And good idea about the summer vacation thread for next year. Pastis always shuts down after christmas and never fails, that's when we get our hankering....
The vacations overlap but are not simultaneous. Both locations are now closed. Cafe repoens on the 2nd. Restaurant reopens on the 9th
This was discussed elsewhere here but not in an obvious thread.
It's annoying that after promising a web site in March there still isn't one because apparently they have had difficulty finding a web designer who "gets" them, why you need to "get" a restaurant to do throw up a single page site that has opening hours, location and (lack of) reservation policy is a mystery to me. I love the food but some of the other aspects of the whole schtick get a little tired.
This kills me too. A website with hours and info is all you need to put up. They can then take all the time they want to look for a designer that "gets" them, but you're not generating unhappy customers.
BUT... they need to keep it updated. A site with wrong hours is worse than having no site. it's a peeve of mine.
