It's at the Kingsland Farmer's Market -- try The Big Tomato. I only found this out now; I was at the CFM today and they didn't have any, picked up some BC stuff as I needed it tonight.

The last couple of years have been pretty spotty in quality in my opinion, the beginning of the season more so, so I'll probably just wait until I hear good things from people before I pass over my money.

The business of corn has gotten too focused on the business and not enough on the corn IMO.

I thought cornfest marked the beginning of the season - and Taber cornfest is this weekend. Weather hasn't been great for corn though - I expect we'll see the best corn in another week or so.

The "kefuffle" ...yes, a highly complicated "legal term"...up here in Edmonton has been whether what was being advertised, i.e. signs beside 1/2 tons in supermarket parking lots as "Taber Corn" is in fact "Taber Corn" ...a fair amount of back and forth between two organizers...one female inerviewed was quite careful to speak of the corn having been acquired from farmers in the Taber "area"...have not bought any to date

Sellers should have a Taber Corn certificate of authenticity.

Shazam, yes that was the position of one group who pointed out the certificate, the name of the farmer, etc. and complained that Taber corn had not been released ...[this started ten days to 2 weeks ago]...and "others" were purporting to sell it, i.e. Southern Gold, Best of the South, blah-blah whereas the 2nd group were contending that not every farmer in the Taber region belongs to the other group, hence the Taber area reference.

Oh well, c'est la vie...sorry to hijack the thread

It was at Crossroads last weekend in the covered area where the Hutterites sell their produce. Seemed to be from Taber, at least my sister-in-law said the farmer was a Taber corn farmer she knew of. $4 for 6, $7 for 12.

Odd thing was someone was selling BC corn for $5 for 6 a few stalls over.

          Decided to wait another week.
