Ethiopian in Charlotte?

DreamCyn Aug 27, 2010 11:23 AM

Hey there!
I'm heading down to Charlotte tomorrow and was hoping to grab some Ethiopian while I'm in an area that has it. I love Queen of Sheba in Chapel Hill but haven't been able to head over there in a while and am really craving Ethiopian.
I see that there seems to be a few different places in Charlotte, does anyone have any suggestions as to which is the best??
What about other styles of African food, are there any?

Open for Dinner would be preferable, because i probably have plans for lunch, but in case they fall through, lunch would be good too. (after I stop by Frost Bites in Salisbury on the way down, and before Pink Berry, now that its open)

I second Meskerem. My favorite out of all the Ethiopian places I've been. Food is fantastic and the people there are very nice. I recommend trying some vegetable dishes, especially the spicy lentils and the green beans with carrots. The collards are great as well.

If you like coffee, have some while you're there.

Thanks for the recommendation, it was awesome! And it was so much more affordable compared to other places i've been to, but still so good! The Kitfa was amazing, as was the avocado salad and it was so filling. Went as a birthday dinner with my parents and my (picky) younger sister, and everybody loved it! Thanks guys!

My daughter asked me to take her there for lunch tomorrow. Glad to hear it's still good, and still open - so many restaurants closing in the past year. Glad you enjoyed it.

I just tried Meskerem today and it is quite good. It's as good as any of the Ethiopian food I've had in New York, and a few of the dishes might have been better. Definitely a must try for anyone in Charlotte.

There are two in Charlotte that I know about and I recommend Meskerem.
