Great Meals - Takayama

We will be spending 3 nights exploring Takayama . Are there any meals 'to die for' there, and any recommendations for premium sake?

I ate with my family the other day at Maruaki Hida. The place was fun, it's attached to the butcher shop and the beef was incredible (according to my boys, my wife and I don't eat meat). I can tell you that it seemed pretty reasonable (compared to some other beef restaurants where we have been, some of those can take your breath away.) my wife and I ate chicken, salad and an interesting rice dish. Overall excellent experience.

Would have loved to try Ryori ryokan Hanaoka.
However we are guests of our local Japanese hosts, and not sure where they are arranging the accomodation.
We are reciprocating their hospitality by inviting them to fantabulous meal, and hoping for suggestions.
