Can you recommend somewhere to eat in the Shanghai Expo?
We are going to the Shanghai Expo in a few weeks time.
I think we will be near the Coca-cola pavilion or round there, on the Puxi side, at lunchtime.
Then we should be near the Sri Lanka pavilion or round there, on the Pudong side, at dinner time.
Where would you recommend we should head to, to eat, both times? I do not want to book anything in case my timings are out.
We would need an english menu, not just a chinese one.
Thank you for your help - I am new to Chowhound, found it in Simon Majumdar's wonderful book "Eat my Globe" - which I am trying to do!

Welcome worldtraveller99,
Most eateries at the expo are ok. (I personally went to three diff. ones in 2 days.) If you drop by the Philippine pavilion, they have a bigger sit-down food court there (vis-a-vis the other food establishments inside the other pavilions which are mostly standing room only) and the food is not bad. -
i watched the expo news where japanese high end restaurant was featured.
i am not sure if you like traditional japanese food but in japan industry pavilion there is a restaurant called murasaki on the first floor. and they offer seasonal food and showed us some beautiful samples. interior was cool too. there was a court yard and a pine tree was arranged and in every fifteen minuets, a fog appeared to soothe the mind. quite beautiful.
it is about 3000 yuans. ( 300 dollars?)

Welcome to Chowhound worldtraveller99. You're in for a fun time. We also will be at the Expo 2010 Shanghai in four weeks. From what we have seen on Chinese television in Maryland, USA we have decided to find a place to eat where the lines are not too long and thus spend our time enjoying the Pavillions. We'll devour the food the other times of our trip. And I'm certain what we eat at the Expo will be interesting and fun. I don't like to overplan a trip. We have found in our travels that the best things are happened upon and newly discovered. How many days will you spend at the Expo?
