L20 Tatami Room?

Anyone been?

I have a res there next weekend and was hoping to here that it's worth the $225/pp price.

  1. There is a pretty epic review here:

And I remember seeing an episode of No Reservations with Ripert and Bourdain in the Tatami room. Looks like a lot of fun.

    1. I've been and whether it is worth the price depends on what your are looking for. The flavors are mostly subtle and delicate so if you are the type of person that wants to be blown away by the flavors given the price you will be disappointed. However, if you are the type of person who appreciates very delicately prepared fish you will be amazed.

The overall experience is truly special although I think I ended up spending over $700 for two people once I factored in wine and gratuity. I am happy that I would recommend it but I don't think I would ever go back. Personally, I like a heavier hand when it comes to seasonings and while I really respected the cuisine and found everything to be delicious, I am not sure I would put it in my top ten list for top tier restaurants around the world.

      1. Wow - that is a pretty epic review! I'll have to write my own after my experience this wknd! Have Alinea Saturday at L20 Tatami on Sunday...

I am planning a trip in March next year to both restaurants in fact. How hard was it to get reservations at each? How far in advance did you call?

Alinea starts taking reservations for all dates two months in advance.

For instance, if you are planning a visit in March you should call on January 1st as the window for ALL dates in March open on that day.
