Manly Saturday Lunch Downtown

Looking for somewhere to have a lunch/brunch with my dad when he comes into town on Saturday for my wedding. He'll be staying near the WTC site, so someplace in Tribeca or Financial District area. Had thought of City Hall, but they apparently aren't open for brunch in August. Having a hard time finding an alternative.

Any suggestions?

Tribeca Grill? I haven't been there in a while but I think it must still be good.

Agreed on Walker's... what about The Harrison?

Walker's is great joint, one of my favs. But if you want to walk a bit, you could go over the Stone Street (the street, not the restaurant) in the Financial District (FiDi). There you will find 10 or so restaurants offering just about everything; for example, American, Irish (ulyssesfolkhouse.com), Mexican (maddogandbeans.com), Swedish (Smorgas.com), Pizza (adriennespizzabar.com) and all offering ourdoor seating. Also, on Saturday, Harry's ,at the end of the block, (harrynec.com)has a terrific brunch, but only indoor seating. And it doesn't get more manly than Harry's (serious Wall Street players' joint). In any event, please let us know what you do, and how it turns out.

How about Locanda Verde in Tribeca or The Spotted Pig in WV?

Not sure about their August hours, so look into that.

That is probably your best choice.

i have to disagree...i loathe locanda verde...filled with tourists and the food is crap.

i suggest lunch at walkers in tribeca...my dad and i love having dinner there and catching up.

or perhaps blaue gans for something german/austrian?

Seconded. Locanda Verde has a great brunch, especially since their pastry chef is such a great baker.
