new to houston, wanting something spicy!!!!!!

As a fan of the tv series man vs food I have been to several of those restaurants. I am currently a new resident of houston and would to tackle some challenges of my own. Since i do not have the ability to consume large amounts of food I am looking for spicy food challenges. Some of you may think I hhave some screws loose, but I love it HOT!!!!! Thank you to anyone for their help.

    C'mon people. Help a .... cubfan....

    What the......?????

Don't you know we're in a pennant ra.........

Oh wait. No we're not. Never mind.

    Spicy huh?

Well, as I noted on another thread, the poblano cream soup at Mexico's Deli can light you up once in a while, but usually it's perfect, which isn't what you are looking for.

Truthfully, that's a tough one. While I'm pretty sure that just about any local restaurant would be happy to oblige you upon request, with both the pantry and the expertise to do so, I can't really think of anything that is generally prepared by what I think you want.

On the other hand, what "I" consider spicy, and what a ..."cubfan" ...considers spicy might be two different things.

There is a little Chinese restaurant called "Far East" on Del Monte, just east of Voss that makes a jalapeno and chicken stir fry called..."Far East Chicken?" (I think), that's often pretty darned spicy. (If I'm leaving chili's on the plate, it's hot!). But of course, jalapenos vary in heat quite a bit, so the same dish might be quite different on consecutive Tuesdays.

I think that just about any Cajun, Mexican, Chinese, Thai or Indian restaurant will be able to accommodate you upon request, though.

At the very least, there isn't a restaurant in town that doesn't have a bottle of hot sauce stashed away for people like you...

    ... and me!

Come back and let us know what you find.

Like my old friend Tony says, "I'm hungry for more."

Try Kanomwan - it is a Thai restaurant on Telephone Road (aka the telephone Thai) - it is a hole in the wall but it gets a 28 out of 30 rating on Zagats for food. Some of the dishes there have defeated my eating companions (but not me!) by being too hot. Hot or not - the Thai food here is awesome and not outrageously priced. Kanomwan 636-1/2 Telephone Road - in a mini-mall there.

    2. Lots of Thai places will knock you down. My favorite is Thai Cottage (various locations) that offer customized heat levels 1-5.

Try Chinese Sichuan Restaurant. It's in the same plaza but to the left of Golden Foods Market. I can't remember the English name, but it shouldn't be hard to find, just look for Sichuan on the sign. 9896 Bellaire Boulevard is the add for golden foods.
