lower westchester - nice but not too nice - for party of 14

We're planning a family get together for a couple of weeks from now on a Thursday night. It'll be in Westchester with some people coming up from Brooklyn and Manhattan. We'll have four kids ranging in age from 3 to 8 and two couples in their 60s and 70s.

So obviously looking for a comfortable family restaurant for a large group with good food... But nothing too fancy or outrageously priced.

I was thinking about suggesting the Cookery in Dobbs Ferry because I've been wanting to try it after seeing all the recent buzz here but I don't know how it might be for a big party with kids. Those of us in Westchester are in Larchmont, Rye and Eastchester so Dobbs Ferry isn't super convenient but not too bad either.

What places do you recommend for a table for 14?

  1. How about Mulino's in White Plains?

    1. Cookery is nice but that's a pretty large crowd for a small place. What about Rye Grill, it's nice, convenient to the highway, able to handle large groups and has a varied menu that will suit all.
