I heard Hiroshima is very well known for Okonomiyaki. Who has the best, perhaps one that is not a chain place...someone recommended Mitchan at Naka-ku, but was hard to find any up to date reviews on this place. Any thoughts of where to go? Thanks.

May not be the best, and I want to go to this place if I ever make it back overseas... :)

Mitchan and Hassho are probably the two shops/local chains mentioned among the best okonomiyaki in Hiroshima. But as I've mentioned previously, okonomiyaki is about finding the one that best matches your taste (almost by definition, okonomi = to your liking). So it's really hard to say what's best. Best to try a couple different places and find out for yourself.

Mitchan is one of my favourite, I always try to eat there whenever I am in town. When you see Japanese tourist taking pictures of their food, you know it's a famous place.

Last time I went, I sat next to a man from Fukuoka who came there with his family.
