Food Shopping in Kelowna

  • 3

I'm staying in a fully equipped condo in downtown Kelowna and have eaten out plenty and would now like to do some cooking. The thing is, I can't seem to find anywhere in the downtown area to buy food except the Safeway. Is there a butcher/fishmonger/cheese shop, anything-not-chain in the downtown area? I find this very odd for a place of such amazing locally grown wine and food. I must be missing something. Can anyone help?

  1. Not sure if the farmer's market is still going on Saturday mornings located by Orchard Park Mall.

There was also a European Deli that's been discussed in old threads, just googled it and apparently it's by Orchard Park Mall as well.

Further north of downtown, closer to the airport, there is an Asian grocery store. Can't remember exactly but it's on Highway 97.

    1. The Farmers Market goes into early September, on Wednesdays and Saturdays at the corner of Dilworth and Springfield Road, which will bring you some excellent options. Also near you is the Mediterranean Market (1570 Gordon, between Bernard and Lawrence), for the best assortment of cheeses in the area, and some quality meats. Not too far from there is O'Rourke's Uptown Market (1321 St. Paul Street), which is small, but might be interesting for your purposes.

Aha, it was the Mediterranean Market that I was thinking of that my cousin recommended. Thanks for refreshing my memory!
