Best spots for solo dining in Portland?

I'm in Portland on a rather spur of the moment trip, and want to have a few good dinners (tonight and tomorrow night). The problem is, I'm all by myself and I want to go someplace that I won't feel uncomfortable. Prefer healthy-ish/vegetarian or Thai or Italian.

Any thoughts? Or do any of you Portland hounds want to take pity on me and have dinner?!

Anyplace there's a counter looking into the kitchen. One of my favorites would be Tabla. Had dinner there last night and it was fantastic.

Well, there goes my first suggestion (K&Z's) for a great solo meal spot!

Generally, I don't think you'll have much of a problem dining solo in most if not all places here, at least not compared to other cities. If you want a great Portland experience while you're here, consider hitting the food carts at Mississippi Marketplace (4233 N Mississippi Ave) or Cartopia (SE Hawthorne & 12th) or Good Food Here (SE Belmont & 43rd, hit this one before 7 PM if you go) for dinner tomorrow. All close enough to downtown (if that's where you're staying), and all easily accessible via transit if you need, too.

Wide variety of selections at each, you'll be sure to find something you like!
