95th! birthday dinner - Newton Wellesley Waltham
My spry dad is turning 95 on Fri. We need a quiet place to celebrate, just 3 of us. He likes a good meal, but a pleasant and accommodating locale will be more important than ultra-special cuisine. We've done Lumiere for his 85th and a nice place in W. Roxbury for his 90th when we had a much larger party (forget the name, something Grill). We don't want to drive into Boston or Cambridge. As for price -- $$$ not $$$$ 'Ethnic is fine, though I wouldn't take him to an Thai or Indian place because he's not going to want too much spice.
Many thanks.

re: rmbelson
Tell them (Campania) about the occasion and ask them to seat you in the back near the wine room (or in it if it is available) It is a nice special occasion place as is Il capriccio.
Wherever you go it will be a great occasion -95! I want to erat whatever he eats. 95! congrats to him

Congratulations to your dad!
From the suggestions given here so far, I'd go for Il Capriccio or Kouzina. Is the Jasmine Bistro in Brighton too far away? My 89 year old grandfather is hard of hearing but had no trouble there. It's a very nice quiet place, with accommodating service and interesting food at a good price point.

Stellina in Watertown? And maybe ask for a table in the little alcove they have. It seems like a good in-law or elderly father restaurant. Tasty for everyone, but nothing really out there to challenge anything too much. And that alcove is really elderly-hearing friendly, I think.

How about 51 Lincoln in Newton? Although we sit at the bar on Fridays, the dining room seems fairly quiet, especially early.
