Any good eats in Colonial Beach, VA?

I'm headed here for the weekend. Any must try food or drinks? Or just good spots for lunch, dinner or snacks?

  1. Ingleside Winery is close to Colonial Beach. It is one of our favorite places in that area. They have a very nice courtyard / picnic area on site. We take a picnic lunch, and buy a bottle of their wine for a nice picnic.

We are in Colonial Beach right now. I found some info that sounded promising about Willie's BBQ but haven't made it there yet. It's only open Thurs-Sun, but it sounds really good. I think I saw it on the side of the road and it looked intriguing.

We had dinner tonight at the Happy Crab at a friend's recommendation. We had their special of 12 crabs for $23... the crab was local and very tasty, some old Bay seasoning on it. Nothing fancy, but good. The cooked dishes we had were unremarkable, seemed expensive for what you got. The bar is popular w/locals so drinks were very slow in coming. But, for a crab dinner, it was good, it's on the water, just don't order the other stuff. They also have an all-you-can-eat crab dinner for around $20, but the crabs are smaller in the all-you-can-eat deal.

I went last weekend. If you try Willy's, go early. It was sold out when we tried to go on the way out of town on Sunday. Also, I really liked Seaside Restaurant for Thai food. It was just as good as anything I've had in Richmond, VA with very good service. For snacks, don't miss the Tides Inn Market. Fantastic homemade desserts, breads, hummus and more. I took home some really good plum-lemon preserves and some Blackberry Basil vinegar I haven't tried yet. Good to know about crabs for a future visit. I wasn't sure if there was anywhere we could get them and eat there. If I'd known we would have done that. I love crabs!
