Rye Flour in Phoenix

IntoTheSea Aug 23, 2010 08:53 PM

I just moved to Phoenix from the East coast and I am having the hardest time finding big bags (at least five pounds) of rye flour. I used to purchase the five pound bags of coarsely ground rye flour from Hodgson's Mill at Stop and Shop, but I can't seem to find a store that carries such a product in Phoenix. I'm not interested in the tiny bags of rye flour one can find at Whole Foods and other specialty shops -- they are way too expensive for the amount I use on a monthly basis. Can anyone tell me where I can find rye flour at a decent price in the Phoenix area? I'm eager to begin once again baking my sourdough rye breads! Thanks.

You can get it in the bulk bins at Sprouts or Sunflower. Both chains have several locations around the valley. They don't seem to intrude on each others' turf, so just check whichever one of the two is closer to you.
