Kosher Salami or Comparable Alternative?

Frank66 Aug 23, 2010 08:06 PM

I'm out here in the West Valley and I'm looking for a deli, supermarket or otherwise, that sells sliced Kosher Salami such as Hebrew National. Our local Fry's carries Boar's Head, but the taste just isn't the same. Would anyone be able to recommend a store in the West Valley that carries kosher or similarly spiced salami? I'm not particularly interested in trekking to Chompie's.

Is Romanelli's on 35th and Dunlap still in business? They have good Italian cold cuts.

I'm a recent transplant to the Southwest so I'm not familiar with Romanelli's. However, Italian cold-cuts are a totally different taste experience to what I'm used to. Thanks, though.

Miracle Mile Deli has a location in the Arrowhead Center. They have a Hebrew National Salami sandwich on the menu. The supermarkets in my neighborhood would probably be the most likely to carry this, but, they don't, AFAIK. The Bashas on 7th St and Missouri just has franks, knockwurst, and polish. I've never been to Segal's - might be worth a visit.

You might try to call your local AJ's supermarket. I believe they carry Kosher Salami in their deli department. Call before you go.

I saw 12 oz chubs of Hebrew National at the AJ's on Central and Camelback. I wouldn't assume all AJ's have them, though.

Costco carries the 2 lb chub of Hebrew National for about $6.99. My 7-yo loves it for school lunches so I buy it there every trip.

eta: sorry, I just re-read your initial post and see you are looking for sliced.
