What's Your Favorite Food To Eat/Cook/Grill While Tailgating?

Hamburgers? Finger Foods? Grilled pizza? Have you tried any new recipes?

I made ribs at my last tailgate. Dry rubbed, and sprayed with apple juice every hour (when going portable, I've found it's best to use one of those juice boxes -- less mess, and less to carry).

Any kind of grilled meat in a natural casing.

I tailgate at least once per year and I always bring already smoked pork ribs to finish on the grill as well as the usual brats and burgers. Somebody else usually brings chicken to grill.

Well, the BEST meal I ever had at tailgate was the Last game I went to this year. We grilled ground elk burgers and buns and topped them with sharp pimiento cheese and fresh-sliced tomato and romaine; I brought prepared 5-bean bbq casserole and a vinaigretted potato salad with herbs; my son grilled mild chiles and stuffed them with cotija cheese, a little crema and cilantro;#2 son grilled some sausage-stuffed mushrooms that he'd precooked the filling for, and my daughter grilled pineapple and peaches and served 'em up with heated canned dulce de leche. My G-d that was some good eatin'!!

WOW. Elk burgers sound amazing! What a family feast! Maybe you can relive it this year?

They are so good, and so lean, and not gamy at all. We pre-seasoned the meat with some sauteed garlic, onion and bell pepper, s&p first, and did them mid-rare. This year, my son wants to do ostrich, which is supposed to be similar to beef although v. lean. If you can source Elk, though, run out and get y'all some, because it was...just...superlative.

We have roasted a turkey and put it on the tailgate table. Very impressive and yummy, too!

Love making grilled pizza at home, but not tailgating, a bit too intense at times.

My favorite would be cheddar stuffed, bacon wrapped knockwurst.

                  And BBQ'd nachos.

I would have to research where I got it from. I used it last summer, think it was a tailgating link here, as a matter of fact.

But it was super simple. You take your knockwurst, slit them lengthwise and stuff with sliced and trimmed pieces of cheddar. Then, take a raw piece of bacon and wrap around the 'wurst and secure with a toothpick. They grilled up nicely over medium high heat on a charcoal grill for about 5 minutes or so. Super tasty, probably even better if you can find pretzel style hot dog rolls, but we used the regular, and everyone was thrilled.
