Thanks for the suggestions. After talking to my daughter (we were taking her to college), we decided to go to Lost Dog Cafe at 222 Water Street in Binghamton and it was wonderful. Tha place has a nice energy to it, all different ages, leaning more to the younger side. We had chicken lemongrass fried dumplings, aye chihuahua salad (greens, blacked chicken, black beans, chili-lime vinaigrette) and rigatoni in a vodka/cream sauce, and everything was excellent. Very good service also. We'll definitely go back when we're in the area and highly recommend it

For an inexpensive Indian meal in downtown Binghamton, check out Curry's of India. Absolutely no ambiance to speak of, but generally good food. If you're looking for something a little more upscale, Moghul in the University Plaza on Vestal Parkway is by far your best bet. Great ambiance and very good food, in my opinion at least. Moghul would definitely be the first place I'd head to.
Whatever you do, avoid the Taj Restaurant on Main St. on Binghamton's West Side.
I love Indian food but never much cared for Currys of India. Has it changed - I haven't been there in a few years? Just what do you find so bad about the Taj Restaurant? I've been by there a hundred times but never stopped in.
