Hi all,
Any Montreal specifics beyond the regular standbys that have been done (Schwartz's, Wilensky's, Banquise, Vinizza,L'Express)?

      1. Patati Patata is a great diner on St. Laurent. Has one of the best poutines in town and their borscht and burgers aren't half bad either. Very cheap place, too. Hard to pay more than $10 for a meal.

Boulangerie Bocadillo on St. Laurent is pretty good too. It's a Venezualan place that mostly does sandwiches. Fairly cheap and very good. My mouth is watering just thinking about their pulled beef sandwiches and empanadas.

I like Patati Patata, had fish there as well as the regular fast food, but find it amazing how they prepare everything in such a small space and then disappear down a trap door to get supplies! Breakfast is also very cheap there. Servings are small but cant beat the price. Chinatown is fun. You might want to try the Australian Meatpie/Tortiere place on Parc right beside Jeanne Mance Park, if you go on a Sunday you could head over to the tamtam (do they still go on in September...) gathering around the statue.

Also liked the food and prices at rumi grill on st. laurent

          for breakfast:

        2. Chez Jose on Rachel is great for breakfast or lunch and definitely on the good, but cheap end of the price spectrum. Some other favourites are Justine Bistro a Vin, Chu Chai, and L'Anecdote. All located in the Plateau.
