I walked by today and noticed the sign was down and windows were papered over. Anyone have info?

Was that a Senegalese restaurant? We had such a restaurant called "Mai" on Staten Island and it recently closed, too. Same owners?

No Mai was Asian fusion (Thai/Viet). It was pretty good when it first opened, but it became very weird a few years ago. Surprising it lasted this long.

Same thing happened with Mango and Beet in Park Slope, started off pretty good and then went off a cliff.

And Blue Marble is closing too due to doubling rents. Looks like Atlantic is becoming more and more desolate.

Definitely closed; tried to go last night and got an unpleasant surprise. On the upside, there is an official NYC certificate on the window saying some new restaurant will open there (maybe 1 Sept). The handwriting was hard to read but I think the restaurant name was in Spanish.

As reported by Brownstoner yesterday: http://www.brownstoner.com/brownstone...

The place's name will be Pardes. Seems like Kosher, but with asian elements. I guess we'll see. It looks like a somewhat higher price point than other places in the immediate vicinity.
