What is this sugar called?

I want to make some big chewy ginger cookies and instead of sprinkling the top with standard granulated sugar I want to use the larger crystals I see on cookies in the bakery. I've been to a few grocery stores thinking I'd find it in the baking aisle, but not yet, only colored sugars and sprinkles, and I just want the large uncolored stuff.
Can someone please tell me what that sugar is called so I know what to ask for and typically is it only found in a speciality store?
Thank you!

The specific thing you have in mind is called "sanding sugar" and yes, I would only expect to find it at a place that specializes in baking/decorating/candymaking/etc. I'm not sure turbinado sugar or Sugar-in-the-Raw (tm) would have the same visual effect since they're a light beige color instead of white/clear, but they're certainly more readily available.

Sanding sugar! I Googled it after I saw your post and that's it! White/clear crystals are what I've been looking for. Now that I know what it's called I can call around locally. Thank you!

I found sanding sugar at the defunct Kitchen, Etc. chain and imagine places like Williams-Sonoma would have it. King Arthur Flour sells it online and through its catalog. Mike G is right that raw and turbinado sugar are a different color, and also a smaller crystal than sanding sugar. I suspect Whole Foods would sell sanding sugar.

Sorry, you are right. Missed the un-colored part.
          And I'd had my coffee.

Turbinado sugar. Sugar in the Raw is one brand.
Where are you that your having trouble finding it? I find it in almost all of the grocery stores in CA, some with more selection than others. Trying to think if TJ's carries it...?
          Easy to order on-line though.
