Starting to think of fall VT roadtrip...need some more ideas

javaandjazz Aug 22, 2010 06:22 AM

Last year we did a 1 day roadtrip up to VT, starting out very early in CT. We started out at the Putney Diner, then an apple and maple syrup place right up the road on rte 5 not far from Basketville, then to the VT Country Store, then up to Quechee Gorge antiques and the Farmers Diner, King Arthur Flour Store, and then Sugar Bush Farm and Simon Pierce. We would like to visit some of these places again but what else is around those areas? Might want to try a different place for breakfast besides the Putney Diner. What about a lunch and dinner place also? Any other places like Sugar Bush Farm? Grafton Cheese opened a new place outside Brattleboro.....right? Thanks!

In Bratlleboro on rt 5 not far south of exit 3 is a terrific bar b que place called, I think, river view or riverside, Outdoor and some indoor seating, the brisket and baked beans are excellent, as is the chicken. Lovely spot, you can watch hawks soaring over the river.

I think you mean "Top of the Hill Grille" and you are right. The food there is great!

The Cup and Saucer in Wilmington is always a favorite for breakfast for us.
