4 nights in Vegas, moderate priced meals?

My husband and I will be in Vegas for a conference at the end of Sept. and we're looking for some great food at reasonable prices. I've looked at menu's from some of the top places but most are too fancy for our tastes. (My husband wouldn't touch foie gras with a 10 foot pole.)

I know we want to find a good steak one night (Craftsteak, SW, Prime, Stripsteak?) and maybe a buffet (Bellagio, Wynn,?) just for the experience. For the other nights, we don't know yet. Any recommendations?

We're staying at Mandalay and we don't want to travel too far since we won't have a car. We are a young couple so a fun atmosphere would be great too.

Also, is it too late to make reservations for dinners or shows? How far in advance do we need to book?

  1. What do you consider reasonably priced? You're not to late to make reservations for dinner. However, the sooner the better. You'll be too far south to walk to a vast majority of the major Strip hotels (about one to three miles to most of the hotels). You might want to consider buying bus passes and taking the Duece double decker busses. They stop in front of all the major hotels and run about every ten to fifteen minutes. FYI, Chowhound is pretty strict about non food or restaurant questions.

Border Grill is in Mandalay Bay. This upscale Mexican restaurant will not disappoint and the atmosphere is informal and fun. Request a table on the patio if your so inclined. I would recommend purchasing a restaurant.com certificate, currently 70% off using coupon code STEAK through 8/23, and make your reservation through OpenTable.

There are several other restaurants in Mandalay Bay that also participate in restaurant.com.

Payard Patisserie in Caesars has an excellent 3-course lunch for $21.

    2. You may want to consider Charlie Palmers Steak House. They are offering a 3 course meal for $48 which includes bottomless glasses of wine with the first two courses. The menu changes weekly. The restaurant is located in the Four Season portion of Mandalay Bay.

      1. Monday and Tuesday nights at the bar at Bradley Ogden at Caesars! The best, most incredible heirloom tomato salad, followed by America's BEST burger (IMHO of course), followed by dessert- $29.00. This is one choice. Another would be Mon Ami Gabi at Paris. Make a reservation and ask to sit facing the fountain. Excellent French style Brassare (sp). Great steak frites....NON strip prices.....good portions...you'll love this place too!!
