Does anyone know where in the Minneapolis area sodium alginate and calcium chloride can be purchased in small quantities for the home chef?

Calcium Chloride can often be found in the bulk sections at Coops.

Sodium Alginate is harder to find as it's only home use is probably making "spheres" with the above...I've gotten it off amazon.

This is harder to do than cooking shows make it look btw. I never could get the gels to stay for long. I'm not all that good a cook though either.

I don't know about sodium alginate (because I don't know what it is or what it's used for), but brewing supply stores will probably carry calcium chloride in small amounts. I bought some last month for my pickles at Northern Brewer in St. Paul.
