Anniversary Dinner

I'm looking for some suggestions. My husband and I will be celebrating our first wedding anniversary this September and decided to honor the occasion with a great meal. We originally thought of going to Daniel but of course there isn't a single reservation available. I need a place that has vegetarian or at least good fish options for me; the husband will eat anything. I'm not sure if we want to go the pure romantic/date night route or go for the amazing dining experience. Any thoughts?

Veritas would probably work. Picholine would also be likely to have availability. How about
SHO? It's a superb dining experience. If you are really into the food, ask for a table next to the glass-walled kitchen so you can watch it being prepared. You might also consider Annisa, perhaps a little more difficult to book, but if you can, it is worth it. They recently reopened after a fire and subsequent renovation, and the new menu is really good.

I want to thank you all for these suggestions. I'm going to check them out with the hubby and make a decision ASAP.

At this point, it will probably be difficult to snag a table for a Saturday night at any of the other 4-stars (Per Se, EMP, Le Bernardin, Jean Georges), but give them a call. You never can tell. Depending on how flexible you are about time, you might luck out. That said...

Cafe Boulud may be Chef Daniel Boulud's second-tier restaurant, but in every respect, it is first-rate! Executive Chef Gavin Kaysen is cooking some of the best food to be found in NYC right now. Plus, one of the four a la carte menus, Le Potager, focuses on vegetarian dishes. Service is always cordial and professional, and the space -- which was refurbished a year ago -- is lovely. There is also the welcome addition of Bar Pleiades down the hall. Cafe Boulud is a longtime favorite of ours, and I think it's a wonderful place to celebrate a special occasion.

Cafe Boulud is a great idea, I'd also add Veritas for your consideration.
