Looking for a really good grinder in providence....

Anyone have an absolute favorite Grinder in RI?

My husband and I have been looking and looking, trying every neighborhood joints and pizza places. Everyone of them has been just OK and no different from the last.
But we are dying for a really good grinder place. Looking for fresh bread, a new twist on an italian sub, veggie sub, etc...

Suggestions?

      Try Venda,

They bake their own bread, many types of sandwichs on crusty rolls. even the italian sandwich has italian ham, mortadella, decent salami, real olive oil balsamic vinegar, roasted peppers just to name a few things on it. Then Veal and Peppers, Chic Parmesan , many more.

I second the Italian Corner and am also a huge fan of George's Deli on Ives Street in Providence- excellent Italian grinder, on bread from LaSalle Bakery. Go there soon though, as the business is going to be changing hands September 1st. I'm worried about the future there.

I love the grinders from The Food Chalet in Warwick...they make all kinds of other sandwiches to order...only bad thing? They're on vacation this week...counting the days until Tuesday when I can have my grinder with lettuce, tomatoes, hot peppers and oil/vinegar...half sour pickle...and marinated mushrooms....mmmmmmmmmm...plus I'm sure I'll get something for supper that night (thereby avoiding having to cook!!)

Anthony's on Admiral St. is quality. A favorite of mine is the Chicken Cutlet with Provolone and Rabe. They also do a very good Italian called the Godfather. They bake their own bread.

I assume you have already tried the Sandwich Hut, since your search seems well underway. If not, you need to.

Dee's Deli in Cranston is amazing! Not really a new twist on anything, but just great authentic old school Italian grinders. They have a brocolli rabe and provolone sub that's great, but I can never resist the combo.

The Italian Corner in Seekonk/East Prov is also great! Fresh bread and cold cuts sliced to order, plus a salsa verde that is addicting!

Has Hudson St. Market reopened in any other form? They made the best grinders imaginable!

Yes, it has reopened as Hudson St. Deli. They have updated the menu, but one of the items is "The Hudson Market Italian".

I used to live two doors down from there and ate a veggie grinder at least twice a week. They were the best ever.
