Kleinburg
Just returned from Victoria, where my son introduced us to his favorite cookie/pastry---
Kleinburg bars. Unable to find recipe---saw reference to them being called by another name, but it wasn't listed. Any help in locating recipe or description greatly appreciated.

They are delicious aren't they!? mmmm. Here's a recipe I found for them and they are pretty near to what we've had in the coffee shops here in Victoria.
Kleinburg Bars
First Layer
1/3-cup brown sugar (packed)
3 tbsp corn syrup
2/3-cup peanut butter
2 tbsp melted butter
1 tsp vanilla
2 cups Rice Crispies
Second Layer
½ cup unsalted butter
2 Tbsp. and 2 Tsp. cream
2 Tbsp. vanilla custard powder
2 cups icing sugar
Third Layer
4 squares semi-sweet chocolate (1 oz. each)
2 Tbsp. unsalted butter
How to Prepare :
First Layer:
Combine sugar, corn syrup, peanut butter, butter, and vanilla. Mix well, add cereal and mix until cereal is
combined well.
Bake at 375 F for 5 minutes. Refrigerate at least one hour until set.
Second Layer:
Cream butter, cream, custard powder, and icing sugar together well. Beat until light. Spread over bottom
layer.
Third Layer:
Melt chocolate and butter over low heat. Cool. Once cool, but still liquid, pour over second layer
and chill in refrigerator.›3 Replies
