Kitchener Waterloo Sunday dinner

t

Dear Chow community,

I am going to Kitchener Waterloo to meet some family for dinner on Sunday. I was hoping to go to Three Kretans or Uptown 21 but they are both closed. We are going with a few very unadventurous (fussy) eaters and some real foodies. I am trying to find a place to please everyone. Not an easy task, I know. But they're best suggestion so far has been East Side Marios. I thought they were joking. It doesn't have to be fancy. I just want a nice meal. Please help or I may end up at East Side Marios.

Thanks.

Hmmm. Two Goblets sounds great! I think Versus would be too fancy for some of our party. I'll try it without them another time.

Two Goblets is great, but closed on Sunday - same with Verses.

Thanks RYP! Sorry TO78, must have missed "Sunday" in your OP.

Sole...nice menu but dishes can be hit or miss. Bauer Kitchen (same owners as Wildcraft, Charcoal Steak House etc.) also a possibility...
If you want something "more KW" (but not German...) Two Goblets on Weber. Huge portions of Schnitzel and Romanian specialties. Good and "homey"
If you want to make the foodies happier... Versus ($$$)

        Good Luck!

          Re: Bauer Kitchen
DO NOT ORDER the Lemon-Thyme roasted chicken. They cook it in a french style that involves a long oven casserole type with no browning. This ends in fatty deposits and skin that is not at all crispy. I thought it may have been an off-night and then a friend went 2 weeks later and got the same thing with the same preparation.
Their Cioppino is excellent though, as is the mushroom tart app.

These are very helpful suggestions. I'll let you know what the decision is. Sole looks perfect. Some creative dishes and familiar ones. We don't need to "wow" the foodies. We just want to make sure they come.

First thing that came to mind for me was Sole. They have some good pasta dishes and some non-threatening "meat and potatoes" kinds of dishes. Also some more interesting ones, but nothing that will really wow your foodies.

O&B Cafe Grill is open until 9 on Sundays, and Wildcraft until 11.

I agree with morefoodpiz's recommendations and will add Sole as an option.
