Kearney Style Fish & Chips in Red Bank
My parents are originally from Newark NJ and growing up I had a lot of family in the Bloomfield, Kearney and Harrison area.
Their is a huge Scottish & Irish population up their and periodically we would get fish & chips from either the Thistle or the Argyle. It seems that the Argyle is still in Kearney but the Thistle closed shop a while ago and re-opened in Lyndhust but they also have a traveling kitchen for catering.
On Friday, September 17, 2010 they will be hosting a fundraiser at the Red Bank Elks Lodge #233 40 West Front Street in Red Bank from 5-7pm.
Tickets are $18 advance/$20 door for adults. Children 12 and under are $8.50 advanced/$10 door. Carry out or eat in.
It is for a good cause too; to construct a new school building for a local Montessori school. To purchase advance tickets call the school at (732) 842-5816.
For me, comfort food is king and I can't think of a better way to say goodbye to another summer than with fried food so I wanted to share this with you guys.
