Late night dessert -- crepes & waffles downtown?
I'm looking for a dessert place in between Bay/Wellesley-ish and Scotiabank Theatre that's open later than 7PM. I want a waffle or crepe
A few that I know of:
Just Desserts (awful reviews online)
Crepes it Up @ Church & Wellesley (open until midnight). I think this is my best bet.
Cafe Crepe (most convenient location, but their crepes are only so-so)
I want a good, chocolately, dessert crepe with chocolate ice cream :P
Thanks!

So, just an update if there are any other crepe fanatics out there. I was disappointed in Art Square's crepes (but not a surprise to friends who later told me that their stuff is generally blah), it was a mess. I actually liked Cafe Crepe's dessert better, even though the crepe there isn't always super fresh. However, since I was so unsatisfied, I headed to Krepesz in Kensington - best one so far! The edges were crispy, the crepe's consistency was exactly what I was looking for, and it was neatly filled with a layer of bananas and Nutella. I could've taken a picture of the filling, but I didn't feel like unwrapping it just for that. For fun, I posted the comparison pictures here: http://cookiesandtomatoes.blogspot.co...

Art Square Cafe near the AGO is open until 10. Never tried it so not sure how they really are. Don't know if they have chocolate ice cream at all either.

Went to Art Square tonight - did not satisfy the sweet tooth. Had the Very Berry, and while the crepe itself was good and fresh, the filling was lackluster and the ice cream was blah. Next hit will be either Crepe it Up or Crepes a GoGo

Neither of these are exactly in your boundaries but consider Le Papillon on Front. Also, years ago, I used to enjoy the crepes at the Movenpick Marche @ former BCE place - I usually went for caramel sauce, not chocolate, but the fruit and real whipped cream were good. After dinner things were much quieter there so the whole 'marche' thing wasn't as annoying. Reports on the recently re-opened Marche aren't great though.
Edit: sorry, I just noticed that you specifically want chocolate ice cream. For that you might need to go to a special dessert place, and those do tend to be bad...

re: julesrules
ya...I am a sucker for chocolate ice cream. Vanilla doesn't cut it for me, really. I agree that dessert-specific places tend to be quite bad. I really wish that Summers or The Big Chill had waffle irons, it'd make my dessert cravings so much easier to satisfy.
I might throw in the towel and go for cake at Frank's @ the AGO if I don't have time to back track to Crepe it Up...I don't think that Cafe Crepe is worth returning for.

re: chocabot
That's what I thought but my friend told me that I mistook their waffle cone maker for an iron!! It's too out of the way for tomorrow but I am going for a waffle from them very soon. I hope they make it nice and crispy. Wanda's was too soft, almost to the point of being mushy :( They looked good...but failed to deliver

(Deceiving picture: http://cookiesandtomatoes.blogspot.co...I think I'll try Crepe it Up tomorrow.
Thanks for the Big Chill tip, very excited!

It seems to make sense to post the FRANK dessert link here too, so future chow-searchers can find it: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/732695?tag=main_body;topic-732695
Hope this isn't considered spam.
