Good Cheap Food around LAX
Just started working in the LAX area, south of Century at Arbor Vitae. There are lots of divey looking burger, hawaian, thai, bar-b-q and indian/pakistani places in the neighborhood. Can anyone vouch for any of these places? I know about Pann's, so no need to mention it. I've also been to Hawaiian Bar-b-q on Century, which is pretty good for the $.

Thanks HOunds....keep those recommendations coming!
Tried Tony's last week. Had a decent cold roast beef sandwich. Nothing exceptional I hope I ordered poorly, and that there is better to be had there.
Picked up a few items at the El Segundo BreadBar outlet last week and was totally underwhelmed. Noting seemed really fresh, and the dark chocolate baguette was doughy and a bit dry. DISAPPOINTING!
Had the Dream burger and onion rings at Pann's today. It was excellent! Could have eaten a few more rings, and fortunately they keep the portion size down.
Tomorrow will be Thai or LAX Taco.

Recently my default eats near LAX is Mariscos Chente on Inglewood.
IIRC it's like 3 miles away or something like that. It's cheap as far as quality seafood go and as you may know from street gourmet la, Sergio Penuelas who used to be at the Mar Vista location is now there.-----

Thai Talay has decent thai food for the Westside
Truxton's American Bistro has good beer and burgers
Bar Melody isn't a restaurant, per se, but they do have a food menu and some tasty options
Get the chicken and waffles or the biscuits at Pann's

re: vronic
We too like Truxton's, but I wouldn't call it cheap. However, that said if you are going to Truxton's and want Thai food then right around the corner is Ayara Thai, http://www.ayarathaicuisine.com/ which is much closer to the OP than Thai Talay and has some very good noodle dishes, including a boat noodle soup that, while not the equal of Sapp Coffee Shop in Thai Town has a pretty fair version for the west side of LA.

From the sound of where you're at, I used to work in the office buildings right across the street from where you are, for about 6 months last year. First, without getting in your car, the place is a culinary wasteland. Burger King and Carl's Jr. are about the best there is in walking distance. No thanks! :)
So I had to resort to driving. My favorite was to head over to the Pachanga Grill in El Segundo (East Imperial Ave (not Imperial Highway) at Main St., next to the Subway sandwich shop) which is part of a small Mexican chain place - somewhere between Baja Bud's and Baja Fresh, but a little better than either, IMHO. Nice to get it to go and to drive back up the hill a block or two to watch the planes at the airport.
Alternatives - deli counter at Bristol Farms (on Lincoln between 85th and 84th streets), Paco's Tacos (in shopping center at Sepulveda and Manchester), Baja Fresh (same shopping center), or the salad bar at the Whole Foods in the shopping center on east side of Sepulveda just north of Rosecrans. Chicago Ribs (baked, not BBQ'd but still decent) on Sepulveda a bit past Bristol Farms).

Don't know how far you want to drive, but it would help to know a starting point. Arbor Vitae was parallel to Century last time I was up there :-).

Check out Taco Express sometime http://www.yelp.com/biz/taco-express-los-angeles and I wonder if they are still doing the food truck round up http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/6996... on Tuesdays right off of Century Blvd. near Airport in that parking lot?
