Southold Questions

I just went to Wayside and the Southold Fish Market this afternoon, and it occurred to me that I did not see The Blue Duck Bakery. Can anyone tell me where in Southold it is? Also, someone mentioned a good pizzeria in Southold, and I cannot find the post that mentioned the name.

I was a little disappointed in the Wayside experience today. It looks like it has been sold, and whoever bought it hired some truly incompetent counter help. It took nearly 20 minutes to slice a half pound each of salami and two cheeses. It was also ferociously expensive for non-butcher items, and they changed the kind of hot dogs that they carry. Those were great dogs, and we used to look forward to our Friday night ritual of driving out and having a late dinner of those dogs and kraut.

Mercifully, there has been little change out here.

  1. The address is 56275 Main Road (Route 25). It's on the eastern portion of Southold, on the north side of the road; IIRC, there's a 7-11 on the south side just a stone's throw further east--so if you're headed to Greenport and you see the 7-11 in Southold, you just passed Blue Duck.

I think there's a Jeep dealer just to their west, on the south side like the 7-11 is.

Edit: I should mention that Blue Duck sells their breads at the farmer's market at the Tanger Outlets At the Arches in Deer Park, Saturdays 11-3.

    1. I just re-read your post. Did you perhaps mean the pizzeria in Jamesport rather than Southold?

No, I don't think so. When I mentioned, in another post, that I was excited to hear about the Jamesport pizzeria, someone mentioned that there already was a great pizzeria out here in Southold. I will check out the one in Jamesport, though.4

      2. the people at wayside were always jerks, nothing different there. it's pricey, but still damn good. nothing compares to their burger (but make sure they make them fresh, not from the freezer) and their homemade deli meats are delicious.

blue duck is almost directly across the street from 7-11. can't miss it.

don't know about pizza, but i'd like to hear about it. slim pickings out here.

The one in Jamesport sounds awesome, though. The guy worked at Motorino and the pizza oven is from Italy. Will definitely go for lunch tomorrow. Apparently they run out of dough since the demand has been more than they expected...

The guy at Pizzeteria Brunetti in West Hampton Beach trained at Motorino. This guy was inspired by Pizzeria Bianco in Phoenix.

        2. Do we have a confirmation that the Wayside MArket has changed ownership recently?
