We will be in Tupelo for dinner on Friday and Oxford on Saturday. I know it is busy now with students returning to school but I want to eat the best in each city. Planning on Park Heights for dinner in Tupelo unless someone can recommend something better. Trying to decide between Taylor Grocery, Yocana, Ravine, and City Grocery for dinner on Saturday. We want something fun but also really good food. Any advice?

Also any can't miss stops for nibbling throughout the day. Thanks!

  1. If your priorities are atmosphere and ambiance I would go to Park Heights and dine outdoors. It will be very hot so take notice. The same people own Park Heights, Fair Park Grill and Harvey's. I think the food is outstanding at all three. I will check with my Tupelo friends and see what they think. Go to Harvey's because the food is outstanding. Good luck.

    Fair Park Grill @ 343 East Main St., Tupelo, MS. 662 - 680 - 3201.

Taylor Grocery and Yocona River Inn are not in City Grocery's league. They are both a lot of fun but you will find John Currence's cuisine more outstanding than TG or YRI. I would look into
Waltz as well but CG would be my choice for lunch or dinner.

There's a new restaurant called Lenora's in the old L & M location that is nice but I prefer CG. Go to the Snack Bar for lunch in Oxford which is also owned by JC. Go to Handy Andy on N Lamar for good BBQ and lunch. Ajax is outstanding on the Square for lunch.

    1. City Grocery is still good, but Waltz is not what it used to be. Ravine is the best fine dining in the area, by far. Lenora's has a nice Sunday brunch, but has not impressed me at night. Yocona in Exile is quite good, but the wait can be long. Taylor Grocery is a fun experience, but the menu is limited - catfish is the thing to get, although the steaks are good. The cobblers are awesome.

I have to say, if you're looking for fun, Taylor Grocery is where it's at.
