Cheap and Cheery Recommendations for Supper near Kensington/Gloucester Road Tube, London

krs828 Aug 18, 2010 12:35 PM

My husband and I will spend a week in London in September and are looking for places to have dinner near our flat. We love Indian food and British Pub Food, are interested in any other good and cheap neighbor hood places. Thanks, Kathy

Try the weekend Singapore/Malaysian buffet at Bugis Street restaurant in the Millennium hotel.

It's pretty good -- not Sedap level, but definitely cheap and cheerful. Laksa was probably my favourite of the items they served.

I used to stay right down the street from the hotel - in my pre-UK life. I've always liked that area and never knew about the food at the Millennium. This will be handy knowledge to store away for friends I know who like to stay in South Ken.

There used to be a small Italian place at the corner of Gloucester Road and Harrington Gardens. It was not too expensive and was OK. There are some chain places in the Waitrose area near the Tube... maybe less expensive than what you'll find on Old Brompton Road, which has a ton of places. It depends on what you call 'cheap!' :-)
