Peter Lugers: Why Shouldn't I Get My Own Steak and Cut It Myself?

I've heard it's better to order Steak for Two (or 3 or 4 etc.) at Peter Lugers than a single sized portion steak for oneself. Why is that? I generally like to play with, er, I mean arrange and cut my own food in my own way.

  1. ............. because they won't let you. How about a hundred years of tradition. Go with it, relax and enjoy a great steak dinner.

    1. Simple: You get better cuts if you order the "Steak For Two" or more. The "Steak For One" is a strip steak - good, but if you order the "2" you get a full porterhouse, with a particularly large filet.

As Stuartlafonda said........TRADITION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would not try to rearrange their recipe for success.......

      2. The reason it's pre cut also has to do with how they cook. I believe it gets a quicky in the broiler after it's been cut. I don't know what that achieves, but I'm pretty sure thats the case. Probably to get it hot again after it's rested.
