Hells Kitchen Lunch, Wednesday
as out-of-towners staying on 50th between 8th and 9th, we're asking for Hound rec's for Chinese food for lunch in Clinton/Hell's Kitchen. Dim Sum if possible--but, really, we're thinking of noodles and dumplings and so-on. many thanks in advance.

there's a Mee Noodle on 9th and 53rd. it's not much more than a typical Chinese sit down/take out place, but there food is quite good. i especially like their pan fried pork dumplings over ramen. if you're open to other ideas, there are quite a few Indian and Thai restaurants nearby. you're also very close to Baan, a slightly Americanized Korean place with very good dishes. it's one of the nicer looking places nearby to you, but it's often DEAD during lunch. it's a large space and i've never seen it close to full.

great rec (Mee Noodle): just back at the digs from there, had pan fried dumplings as you suggested, truly enjoyed them. halfway through the meal, MsM said, "I could come back here." High praise. Our other dish was string beans with meat sauce--excellent. thanks for the tip,

went back again yesterday (Friday) for onion cakes & steamed meat dumplings. again, v.v. good, just what we needed for fuel before and afternoon of tourist-museuming...wish the cakes had had more scallion; but really liked the gingeriness (two nonce creations in one sentence: not a personal record, but still...) of the dumplings.
