2 Birthdays in 2 Days - Florence dinner recs

My husband and I have birthdays on Saturday and Sunday respectively this week. We will be celebrating in Florence, and have yet to make any dinner plans.

We will be staying right in Florence, and are looking for 2 differnt restaurants at which to celebrate.

Price isn't really an issue, though would rather avoid somewhere very fancy... (read, uptight) Would like somewhere with great food, wine, and a fun atmosphere.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

thanks... we will check it out for sure.

From searching this board, and from friends are considering Acqua al due and perhaps Teatro del Sale... any thoughts or has anyone been recently?

I think there have been posts on this Board already about places open in August, since so many are closed - I believe that Alle Murate and Zibibbo are among those that are open but that Cibreo (whose kitchen supports Teatro del Sale) may be closed..

You should start emailing or calling immediately if you with to have a reservation anywhere for this weekend.

directly across the river from the Westin (in the square next to the convent) is a fish restaurant that the jfoods enjoyed last year. you choose the fish and they prepare as you wish. jfood would HIGHLY recommend if you do find theplace and go to order the fish baked in salt. The only other place jfood has seen this preparation is in Rio. A memorable dinner.

Fish baked in salt is quite common in Liguria, and I've had it in Sicily as well.
