Location for a Girls Night in Central NJ

Hello hounds,

I am part of a social club of 20-30 y/o women and we are trying to find a location to a have an occasional girls night out in a bar/lounge type establishment in central NJ. Somewhere vegetarian friendly with cocktails (most) for less than $10, and not sports bar-ish is preferred. Does anyone have any suggestions?

  1. I am 31 and go out monthly with my girlfriends, of whom I am the youngest. We like Avenue, Undici, Copper Canyon, Johnny Piancone's, McCloone's Asbury Grille, Stella Marina (lots of pasta choices here for the vegetarian). I am not sure on the exact prices of cocktails at the various locations. I drink Ketel and Cranberry and those are usually around $8 wherever we go.

    Hope that helps!

    1. I have met up with some of my friends at Red in Red Bank, or across the street at the Downtown and have always had a great time at both. The place Michele suggested are great, too!!

Oooooh! I love the Downtown too. Good call.

      2. Central Jersey is a big place...what specific area are you thinking? New Brunswick? Central shore?

I love Hotoyke in New Brunswick. Great front lounge area. Drinks half price until 7. large selection of appetizers.
Tula is another place that's pretty good as well.

You might want to try Daryl Wine Bar and Restaurant. It has a quality bar (good cocktails and many wines by the glass) and a very nice decor. Although I haven't been back since they switched from their small plates concept, the food was always top notch. Good Luck.

Clydz in New Brunswick is a great place for cocktails and martini's plus (18) wines by the glass from $7-$11. Weekday drinks, half price till 7. The bar menu and dinner menu are not as vegetarian friendly as others. Maybe start your evenings here and check out another spot for dinner (outstanding fresh pasta at Due Mari?).

It sounds like Clydz is 'exactly' what you are looking for.

Antigone, is your "social club" taking applications? :D

Whenever I go out in NB, it usually involves Clydz and/or Harvest Moon. Best places in NB for martinis and beers, respectively, IMO.

Also, I recently went to the Stress Factory for the first time ever and had a pretty good time. Planning on going back on Thursday for Mike Destefano...dude is hilarious!

Harvest Moon sounds like a great idea. Being the token vegetarian in my group, Clydz leaves me a little hungry, and Due Mari is a bit intimidating.
