Have a favorite weekend Greenmarket/ Farmers' market in Albany Area?

  • 9

When I travel I enjoy visiting the farmers' markets and farms that sell their products. We'll be staying near Albany for a weekend, without specific plans and with a car.
Do you have a favorite weekend farmers' market in the Albany Area? If so, do you have a favorite farmer, baker, etc. there?
Also, any favorite farms (or cheese makers) in the Albany area where you can buy cheese or ice cream or pick berries, etc.? Thanks

  1. I haven't been to them all, but the Troy Framers Market on Saturday mornings is excellent. Full range of pastured meats, great cheeses, Mrs. London's bakery items, Dutch desserts,my favorite honey, and lots of other stuff. Got some wonderful duck livers from what I believe was a Mennonite farm. Of course, all sorts of veggie stands. Noticed My Linh, a great Vietnamese restaurant, had a food stand along with some of the other standards. Worth a trip.....and moves indoors in the winter months.

Wow - can I now get a Vietnamese sandwich in Troy? Things have come a long way in 25 years!
That market sounds great. I'll look for a link on line. Thanks.

The only thing My Linh had 2 weeks ago were summer rolls. Don't think they do sandwiches. Still worth checking out the market.

      2. For cheesemakers, take the Washington County Cheesemakers Tour, Sept. 11-12, includes the best cheesemakers in that part of our region: Greenwich, Argyle, and the best of them, the Consider Bardwell farm over the border in VT.

        2. Saratoga Market is the best in the area.

What day and hours is the Saratoga market on?
Is it more crowded with race go-ers or are their attentions elsewhere? Silly people.
