Edinburgh- 21212 or Kitchin
Hello, we usually go to Martin Wishart when through in Edinburgh but have decided to go there later on in the year for our birthdays, so decided to try one of the above. Anyone been recently to either or both?! Slightly wary of the 'experimental' nature of 21212.. but I could be convinced. Thanks for any help.

You made a good choice in my opinion. Unless you're very old school in how you like food to be made up then 21212 is a totally different restaurant to most you go to although there sometimes is one ingredient too many!

So, it's to be Kitchin or Kitching then?
I've no experience of Kitchin but know Kitching from his previous restaurant, Juniper. As I suspect you're indicating, the choice is between the "experimental" and the more "straighforward". Much will obviously depend on your taste. At Juniper, he had more scope for the experimental as there were more courses. Whilst some were absolute star dishes, not every one worked as well. Hopefully, the more restricted nature of the menu means he should be able to get everything spot on. The currently advertised starter of "steak & chips" is pure Paul. Oh, and his partner in life, Katie, who runs front of house, is a lovely person and does a great job.
